Even better chart management is the main feature of the latest version of Henry.
Along with some nice features such as a graticule display, this release of Henry incorporates several improvements in the way charts are handled. Raster charts will now start up faster and ENCs can be installed faster. The ENC improvements are a prelude to our forthcoming update service ? watch this space.
We have also verified the ENC display against the latest IHO test data set which all worked out pretty well. These are the tests that caused a stir because it showed up display faults in several ECDIS. Henry however is fine.

As part of our ongoing commitment to keeping our staff healthy, we've bought an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) for the office, and we asked Dave Barrass from the St John Ambulance to come in and show us how to use it. We've learned that for every minute a person in cardiac arrest is not successfully treated by defibrillation, the chance of survival decreases by 10 percent. Now we have a defibrillator right here, our office is one of the safest places to suffer a heart attack.
CherSoft are pleased to have some small involvement with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. They provide, on call, a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service and a seasonal lifeguard service throughout the UK and RoI. Accurate navigation and high performance charting systems can be crucial in emergency situations so we are proud that the CherSoft ENCX™ chart kernel was chosen for the new common chart system called ChartPlot. This is a custom navigation system developed by the RNLI to be deployed on the D class, Atlantic 85, Mersey, Trent and Severn class lifeboats. Andy Nibbs, Product Manager for ENCX™ said ‘We have worked with the RNLI for several years to assist their adoption of ENCX™ and it is a great thrill to see it getting in service’.
At CherSoft we admire the work of the RNLI and have the greatest respect for all the volunteers that risk their lives to save others.
